PlayGrand has recently undergone a makeover to up-date a nearly 4-year old interface, bringing a new look, new promotions, and new features. This, of course, prompted
us to return and take a fresh look at what was already an excellent online casino. Our most pressing question was "have they toned-down on the Planet of the Apes branding?"
Online casinos can generally be put into one of 2 categories - classic and gimmick. By classic, we mean that the casino attempts to ape the traditional
land-based casino feeling, the glitz and glamour accosted with Monte Carlo. Gimmick means that they give the casino a theme - say penguins - and then go to
town on it with images and puns. PlayGrand is a little bit unusual in this respect as it now doesn't really fit into either of those categories. Does that mean its
lost it's sense of identity? Read-on to find-out:
PlayGrand has adopted a very minimalist look now - lots of blacks and greys make it feel like some trendy bar/boutique that we'd accidentally walked into and realised we
didn't quite have means to afford anything in there. While not necessarily feeling like to most welcoming of online casinos, PlayGrand does feel like the sort of place
we'd aspire to play at.
Aside from looking too cool for us, the interface is very functional, with a short, clean menu, a clear distinction between cash and bonus funds, and well-proportioned games
tiles. Another nice touch is the lack of over-the-top graphics shoving the promotions down our throats. The smartphone/tablet interface is a joy to behold and really brings
PlayGrand into 2019.
Given the exclusive feel of PlayGrand, we decided to try the live dealer and classic casino games first. The live dealer games are close to a fifty-fifty split between
Evolution Gaming and NetEnt Live titles, although the selection was generally quite small compared to other online casinos. The main games were covered, but we feel
there should have been more, given the styling of PlayGrand.
The team at PlayGrand must have read our previous review as they've finally added a category covering most classic casino games - these can now be found under the "Table Games" category.
This is a significant improvement and ties-in nicely with other improvements made to the process of finding games. As well as improved categories, a new filter menu has
been implemented which not only allows players to change the search order, but also to select multiple choices. There's also a search box which is ever-present at the top of the
screen, so you'll never be far from finding your favourite games at PlayGrand.
Slot games are in abundance on PlayGrand, meaning that, while offering nothing unique when compared to many online casinos, players should be satisfied with
the variation and choice offered from the most popular games providers. A last note on the games; we really liked the games tiles which are nicely proportioned and
look particularly good on mobile devices.
There is a good selection of deposit and withdrawal methods, and the minimum values for each were well within acceptable limits. Neteller is our usual preferred method
for deposits (Although PayPal is fast becoming another favourite), and the withdrawals via this method are usually very prompt compared to some other methods. Our pay out request via Neteller was received in approximately
3 days from the request once we had passed the verification checks by providing scans of our photographic ID to prove who we are.
PlayGrand also has a more modern look to the account management page, where balances, withdrawal information and wagering progress is very easy to track and really helps us to
feel like we're being kept in the loop. Although likely implemented as a result of regulations, we're none-the-less grateful to PlayGrand for doing it so well.
There's a live chat service available to players at PlayGrand 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The service agent was perfectly friendly and helpful with our queries. The casino also sticks to the trend of foregoing a support telephone
service one that were a little sad to see becoming commonplace, but still provides a readily accessible email address to contact them on.
PlayGrand advertise their casino bonuses in a very reserved way compared to many of its peers. No gimmicky images or cheesy lines are used to tempt players
into accepting a bonus, giving the promotions an air of refinement. The actual welcome promotion is very generous - a welcome package, in-fact. This casino offers new players
a first deposit match bonus of 100% up-to £300 alongside 30 bonus spins on Reactoonz. As if that wasn't enough, there's also a 50% deposit match on the second deposit, up-to £500
plus 50 bonus spins on the excellent Book of Dead slot; and if you though that was the end of it, you're mistaken - make a third deposit and they'll match that by 25% up-to £200 as well
as giving you 20 bonus spins on Legacy of Egypt.
This fantastic welcome package is complimented by a selection of ongoing and seasonal reload offers - check the "Promotions" page for full details of those. As always,
we highly recommend players check the terms & conditions associated with each offer - the significant terms of the welcome package can be found in the advertising
banners on this page.
This casino is licensed by the UK Gambling Commission, the Malta Gaming Authority, and the Spelinspektionen (Swedish licensing authority). These are all respectable
licenses ensure that players receive a degree of protection through playing in a casino that is reliable and trustworthy - that's PlayGrand, in this case.
PlayGrand has got a whole lot better as a result of its recent update. The interface, while not being the most exciting, is sharp as a knife and the new welcome package is
certainly not one to be missed. Significant improvements have been made to navigation and finding your favourite games - of which there is a more than respectable selection -
so we can't really find fault with the casino. We just wish it felt a little more welcoming when we first landed at PlayGrand, but players who are not put-off by the
high-end feel of this online casino will be rewarded with their perseverance.
